Torresol Energy awards 11 scholarships to students from San José del Valle
Torresol Energy, a company dedicated to the promotion, operation and maintenance of thermosolar plants and the owner of the Valle 1 and Valle 2 plants in San José del Valle, has awarded 11 training scholarships as part of the renewed partnership agreement signed with San José del Valle Town Council in 2015.
Through this agreement, Torresol Energy committed to awarding ten scholarships to local students for university-level studies in a technical field, vocational training and extraordinary awards to the best baccalaureate results in San José del Valle from 2017 to 2019, all of which will go to San José del Valle locals. However, the company has decided to increase the number to 11 scholarship students for academic reasons.
For the 2016–2017 academic year, the scholarships have gone to local students Juan Manuel Pérez González (second year of a Chemistry degree); Ana Fernández Parra (third year of Chemical Engineering); José Carlos Román (fourth year of Civil Engineering); Carlos Javier Yuste (advanced level Vocational Training student); Jaime Mariscal, Xavier Díaz, Daniel Gil and David Lago (intermediate level Vocational Training); and Sergio Bermúdez, Álvaro Carretero and Juan José Sánchez Jiménez (extraordinary baccalaureate awards).
Torresol Energy has close ties with the social entities in San José del Valle, home to its Valle 1 and Valle 2 plants – twin 50 MWe plants with SENERtrough® parabolic trough technology. These plants use a molten salt storage system that allows them to produce power in the absence of solar radiation, making them highly manageable and able to respond to grid supply demands.
